Default harbor freight wireless winch review

Here is a quick and fun review with pics for anyone interested in buying the camo 300lb harbor freight wireless winch with fairlead.

for starters the winch can be found here
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=95912

I installed the winch on my 2000 club car with a 10inch lift. had to weld and fab a mounting plate.

the winch looked funky imo with the reciever box on it, so i re-located it into the glove box.

the winch pulls good under a heavy load, definately strong enough for a cart, i even had it up a steep hill and hooked around a tree real high up, if i would allow it to, the winch would pull the cart up the tree. it got me out of some nasty mud pretty good. sometimes the winch would work so hard that it would get hot, and i would shut it down. as it would work harder and harder pulling out my cart it would work slower and slower. but my friend who has a 3000lb warn winch says his does the same, so i assume its normal so it dosent burn out or anything. the wireless feature is real convient also.

only think i dont like about the winch is the 30 foot cable, its way too short and i did find myself unable to hook up to anything sturdy because it would be too far away. i would suggest getting a tree strap or an extra length of cable and keep it in the cart incase your too far from anything sturdy to hook up to. i would suggest atleast another 30 feet of cable or a long tow strap.

anyways here are the pics.

overall for the 70 bucks (i got mine on sale for 60) its a great winch! i probably would want to get a second one and use it to pull the cart backwards if there was nothing to hook up to infront of me.

Thats great, looks like you are enjoying your cart. The palm reminds me about a u tube called south of the border arboritist where they pulled the tree down and it crushed the truck.

i noticed that when the cart is not running the winch runs slower than it does when the cart is running. because of the alternator giving it more juice compared to it drawing from the battery

Thanks for the review, I've been contemplating one but I will mount it on a reciever hitch so I can put it front or back or on anything else.

How many volts does a winch pull? Can you just run it off your 12v accessory batt., I guess you can just depends on how long you need it?

Nice install and review but what's up with the small tires on the rear of your cart? Just curious...

^^^, all of the studs for the adapter on that wheel got stripped, so i just put the stock tire back to test the winch. as for the volts, im not sure. i have it hooked up to my battery and have not yet hooked up my volt gauge, when i do i'll let you know what kind of power it draws
