Default Rough riding/poor tracking lift kit

OK I built this cart for hunting and it is fast and powerful, BUT the 8" all sports lift kit is a BEAST! I've grown to hate it. Rides rough as hell and the front end does not track worth a ****. When you are going faster like 15 - 20 MPH you can feel the tires shifting back and forth and it makes the front end wander side to side. The a Arms have so little travel due to stiffness, I might as well used a spindle kit and been done with it.

I called All Sports and they could not help on the ride and suggested toeing in the front tires some to control drift. (Didn't work) It's just too Loose on the rubber bushings.

Are there any A-arm kits that ride better and Track Normal and safe? I absolutely HATE this lift. I've even considered selling the whole thing and building another cart ground up with something different. (It would be cool programmed down for torque for some campground person. It shows off really well and looks great. Just too rough for serious off road.

I don't know how good the Jakes long travel lift is on a DS but I love it on my EZGO TXT, 32mph with an adult beverage in one hand

What kind of surface are you riding on when this happens? Does the steering wheel feel loose at higher speeds? Have you checked all bushings, stock and all sports for wear? Make sure all suspension components are tightened? Thought about adding wheel spacers?

Surfaces vary. Off road it's ridiculous. Been this way since brand new and only about a year old now. It does not get a lot of use but when I use it, I need it.

Hey Hyper, tell me more about that 2 speed EMP Motor. My motor is EMP as well, designed for rough terrain, hill torque and a top end of 25mph (And it hit it easily) Up a steep grade at 11mph with a load not bad.

I don't know how it works but it has a second set of field posts and depending on how they are wired they can be high speed or low speed with more torque. You can use a heavy duty series FNR switch to change between the options or use a reversing contactor like I did. I also got my motor with a double row of brushes, means twice as much contact area.

Here is a pic of half of it, you can see one of the second field posts labeled LR1.

Let me take a shot at this. I didnt not use an AllSports lift on mine but have a feeling most of it is similar. Guessing there are two leafs on the front axle? If so, take them both out and throw them away. Take your original leaf spring, cut the ends off, blow a hole in each end for the bolt to go thru. install into cart. You will probably need longer bolts and spacers in order to keep the ride height the same. You wouldnt believe the difference going back to a stock front leaf spring! For more details just search my build in my signature.

I think that I will probably go ahead and tear the whole thing off and replace with a Jakes LT lift this winter. Sell the 8" AS lift to someone else and let them mess with it. For a slower campground cart, it's be ok. I do still have the old parts though...I think.

Scott, I remember when you built the cart - I always liked it! As for your lift, you have an Allsports 8" lift but not an Allsports Super Sport 8" lift. The lift you have is identical to the 8" A arm sold by BU and others, and is just like Streetbu's lift and my own lift only mine is 6". These are sold as many brands but the true Allsports design is the Super Sport lift, which is an upgrade I plan to make someday. Mine has given me no end of fits and I cannot adjust it in any manner to make it act correctly - its problems are identical to yours. I can actually hear mine popping and cracking due to looseness in the A arm bushings that has been there since day one.

The lifts that use the CC front parts are not exactly ideal, its nicer to have a real dual arm lift. But not everything comes out like you want and that is what this site is for. With the dual arm lifts you can swap shocks to change it, some use atv shocks.
