Upgrade from A-arm to Long Travel - Installation Questions
I have a 2008 CC Precedent with the 6” All Sports A-arm lift. I’ve just had my 3rd failure of the front suspension in about 3 years, so I think it’s time to upgrade to a long travel lift. Full disclosure, I use this cart to run around my farm, so it is always off road..but nothing too hard core (I know it's not a UTV ). The first two failures were the same…the front leaf spring broke (http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...-lift-kit.html). This last failure is a little more catastrophic in that the bracket between the frame rails has broken where the suspension attaches. It’s kind of hard to explain, but the leaf spring is sandwiched between two heavy plates, and this top plate mounts to this bracket that has broken.
Anyway, I’m assuming (hoping) that an upgrade to a long travel suspension will be more robust for my day to day usage on the farm. I’m looking at the All Sports and the Jake’s long travel kits. Online, those appear to cost about the same…within $100, especially when factoring in shipping. From what I’ve read, All Sports comes mostly put together while the Jake’s is in pieces (for what that is worth). I was able to find the All Sports installation instructions (http://www.americanliftkits.com/cont...avel%20CCP.pdf) but the installation instructions link on Jakes website is broken (I’ve e-mailed them but haven’t heard back). Questions: -It looks like the All Sports kit comes with the replacement bracket that is currently broken (see Step 2 in the instructions above). Does the Jake’s kit provide a similar bracket? -Does anyone have a copy of the Jake’s installation instructions and/or experience installing either one of these? I’d like to get an idea of what this entails compared to the All Sports. -From a robustness standpoint, does either one of these lifts perform better than the other? I’m less concerned about a super smooth ride. Or adjustable height. Or track width. At this point, I’m leaning toward the All Sports simply because the installation seems pretty straightforward and it appears like I would get the replacement bracket that I need. Thoughts? |

Re: Upgrade from A-arm to Long Travel - Installation Questions
I just installed the Jake's kit on a 2003 TXT. It came with paper instructions, but I didn't use them. I found a great installation video on youtube. I just followed along and paused when needed. It does come in pieces, but was very easy to install.
