Marathon limo problem
I have a marathon limo that I built that has grenaded two rearends this summer.
The cart specs 27 inch superswampers All steel body Steel safari roof Yamaha g-2 rear end (second one) Briggs 16 hopped up 780 comet So it's a fairly heavy cart and I am wondering if a ezgo workhorse rearend would be stronger, and also geared lower for the big cart? Thanks for your replies. Keith |

Re: Marathon limo problem
Found out what happened to the first g2 rear end.

Re: Marathon limo problem
To reduce the axle strain install lower gears and get smaller tires or passengers
New gas axle can be had at shopezgo.com |

Re: Marathon limo problem
I know smaller tires would be better but it would not be nearly as much fun as a trail/ cabin cruiser
Also I'm looking for the g-2 axle not an ezgo axle Thanks for the advice though. |

Re: Marathon limo problem
I also got wheel spacers so they may be also putting a lot of strain on the axles
That's why I'm thinking a workhorse axle will work better since it is a few inches wider to begin with. Then I think I can eleminate the wheel spacers, or at least not use 2" ones |

Re: Marathon limo problem
That is pretty uncommon for yamaha rears. Is the cradle mounted in the same spot as the yamaha cradle....far as distance from the brake plate. That would change the leverage on it if you moved it. Guys have run 1000cc rice rocket motors on them in the dunes and they survive, long as they don't dump the clutch with a chain drive to the input. Or maybe you are getting big air with the cart and lots of weight? I have jumped them high enough to clear another cart with no problems, with up to 3 people on the cart lol. No, not lately that was long ago but really fun.
Not positive but would think if the rear articulates it would be easier on the axles, stock G2/9 did not think your ezgo did. Though I don't like it on trails the cart leans a lot more. |

Re: Marathon limo problem
No air or nothing to wild. Never really get over 20 mpr.
I think the cart is fairly heavy It's 2 marathons welded together to make a limo also with a back flip seat 27 inch tires also a safari rack The problem I think I have is a little to much weight along with the narrower g-2 axle. Also the atv tires have a large offset along with 2 inch wheel spacers per side. I think it is causing the axle to flex inside the tube and breaking it. |

Re: Marathon limo problem
I have moved the axle mounting plates a little further to the outside of the axle

Re: Marathon limo problem
I pulled the transaxle out of my workhorse and swapped in a TXT axle the gearing was the same on both of those.
