Electric Cart Recommendation
First of Mods if this is wrong forum please feel free to move to appropriate location.
Ok after 3 weeks of trying to research electric cart on my own I have narrowed dows to 2 carts. I looked also at a Club Car precedent phantom however they are over 1 hour to that dealer in the next state over. I found a EZGO dealer and Yamaha Dealer both local within 20 miles and will deliver free. So here is what I am loking at and having a heck of a time deciding between the two. Looking for opinions on these two carts. Option 1: Yamaha Dealer 2013 Yamaha is a YDRE Original Batteries with the following: DC MOTORS 6" Lift MDJ with custom wheels and tires Custom Paint my choice of color Headlight and Taillight Kit Rear Seat Mad Jax kit Seatbelts front and rear Fender Flares Speed Code Voltage Reducer $5600 with Tax out the Door Option 2: EZGO Dealer actually they gave 2 options with the ezgo A/C Motors 2012 RXV with New Batteries 6" MadJax Lift Front and Rear Lights Custom Paint or Camo Wrap Rear Seat Fender Flares Front Hunting Basket Front Bumper Brush Guard Seat Belts Receiver Hitch Speed Code Voltage Reducer $6500 with Tax 2014 RXV with Original Batteries A/C Motors 6" MadJax Lift Front and Rear Lights Custom Paint or Camo Wrap Rear Seat Seat Belts Receiver Hitch Speed Code Voltage Reducer $5300 with Tax Lastly being a used cart is there generally any price negotiations. If so what would you shoot for. I know being a used rebuilt cart and not new I have no warranty except the one ezgo with new batteries has 18mo non prorated for the batteries The Yamaha Dealer ALSO offered up a brand new Star for $7500 that was Street Legal Where the EZGO Dealers street legal cart they wanted $9500 I assume it was a EZGO I did not even look at it. I perfer not to tinker right now and build my own as I have too much on my plate. Do these prices seem inline for a custom cart? Any help is appreciated as I may pull the trigger tommorrow. The Yama Dealer told me they have A Arms and will handle 100 time better than a EZGO but I am not sure if that is saleman hype. Also Yamaha dealer wants a 2-3 week build time as the EZ Dealer has several camo and painted models in stock and can customize on to my liking within 1 day. |

Re: Electric Cart Recommendation
I've rode and drove all types of these carts, ezgo Rxv in my opinion is the best ride of any electric lifted cart and also fastest and durable but when these carts mess up there very expensive to replace controllers last week I worked on a guys cart he had a new electric brake and controller replaced was around 1000.00 dollars just like a Mercedes versus Chevy or ford Rxv one of the best just expensive when need to be fixed Yamaha makes a awesome 2016 ac electric cart and a new quietech gas engine that is as quiet as the Rxv electric engine is very durable as well.

Re: Electric Cart Recommendation
Prices look to be inline with carts in my (Atlanta) area.
RXV's usually come with 4x12v batteries. They are better machines with 6x8v batteries. Conversion is easy and relatively inexpensive. Carts with "original" batteries are a risk. 12v batteries have a short life span. 2-4 years. If you purchase a cart with used batteries, include the cost of new batteries in your area to determine the REAL cost of the cart. These are "refurbished" carts which means they came from fleet use (golf courses) in most cases. The boys in the cart barn have no interest in properly maintaining the batteries. Cart dealers load test the batteries and if they pass a minimum they leave them in the cart. Odds are you will be disappointed. The Yamaha is likely the same except it most likely has 8v batteries which typically have a longer life span but still risky coming from fleet use. Star or any brand other than Club Car, EZGO and Yamaha can be ok until something breaks. The problem then becomes finding someone to fix them and parts are elusive. |

Re: Electric Cart Recommendation
Is there a way to make a ezgo street legal and taggable? I read somewhere where someone with a club car was able to get a certificate from club car and add zeros to the serial to act as a vin number
Street legal may be a new requirement |

Re: Electric Cart Recommendation
Depends on the state/local gov't. I know they're able to make golf carts street legal in Florida. I know it can't be done in Georgia. The problem in Ga. is the 17 digit VIN. Golf carts don't come with them and there is no path to get one assigned.
Both Club Car and EZGO make a LSV. See their websites. Called a Villager in Club Car speak and 2Five in EZGO speak. Expensive when new but reasonable pre-owned. Probably hard to find, however. I'm not aware of Club Car issuing VINs. But just because I'm not aware of it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. |
