Default 84 Club Car Build

Been looking for a replacement cart since Hermine totaled mine. Seems electric carts don't like being submerged in 3' of salt water. Ended up with one a little older than I wanted but the price was right, it had the extended roof that my wife wanted and there was just something about the red seats.

Going to get a 6" Jakes lift kit, nice wheels and a whole bunch of other goodies. More to come.

First step was to get the body off and prepped for paint. It had snaps for a enclosure that I don't want so I started to unscrew them and found most were just held in by silicone. Then I took off the fender flares. Someone decided that drywall anchors were the best way to secure those. I plan to put on new fender flares so I had to fix them right. Feathered out the holes and patched them with three layers of glass and then added a layer all the way around the opening just for some added strength. Smoothed out the outside with some bondo and now it is time to prep for paint.

Not only did I have screw and fender flare holes to fill but I also found quite a few voids in the fiberglass. Ground them out, put in some new glass and finished with bondo. Now I will get the body sanded and ready for primer.

Also have to straighten out the birds nest wiring.

I think I know the definition of eternity. That is the amount of time that elapses between when you order golf cart parts and when they arrive.

That is high on my want list but unfortunately it is fall and all the leaves have fallen off the money tree. When it blooms again I will be making the conversion.

Making a little progress. Batteries, lift kit and wheels/tires have arrived. I also removed the front suspension, sandblasted it and sprayed them (and my wife's patio furniture) with epoxy primer. They will get color tomorrow. Hopefully the front suspension and lift kit can go on Monday.

Body is hung and getting ready for final wipe down before going in the booth. It will be primed today so we can block it tomorrow and then lay down the color and clear coat.

My vision is starting to come together. Front end parts were sprayed red. Then we put down the Corvette Watkins Glen Gray color and two coats of clear. Can't wait to get it out of the booth and out in the sunlight. Finish looks 3 feet deep.
