Default Narrow rims

Can anyone here explain why it is so hard to find aluminum rims wider than 7"? Is it only to make them cheap? Owning a farm and building pulling tractors, you quickly learn that in order to make a tire perform to its potential, you mount it on rims close to the tread width. You don't take a 11" tread and put it on a 6 or7" rim. Usually to get the most bite you want the rim bead JUST inside the sidewall/tread so it doesn't get damaged and the tread bites across the full width. Now I realize that our carts use the tire as the primary suspension for little bumps off road, but stability should also be a concern. I've searched for ITP interceptors in 10x8 but can't find them now. If anyone has a source i would be most thankful.

Thanks. Already looked there and didn't see any that caught my interest. Starting to think I might just go to 10" wide tires, don't need 11s anyways. Has anyone mounted slightly narrower ones on the front? Should help steer easier in snow, no?

Found some 10x8 with a 3+5 offset, [actually 2 syles, the ITP interceptors and a BEAUTIFUL 5 spoke, both polished, and cleared, at Golf Cart Tire Store.com. Now how to decide???? I know a lot of people have had the ITPs but how are the 5 spokes? I,m not gonna bash it through the bush, I have tractors for that, mostly roads and farm lanes.

I run atv tires and rims on my cart, which are narrower in the front. Never any trouble off road, and I've been everywhere. Sand, mud, pavement, snow. Deep snow is troublesome only because of the cvt getting wet. Really deep snow I'm limited due to frame clearance. I love the look, the stance, and the ride. I have a long history riding quads though, so I'm used to this type of wheel/tire combo. Also I run a long travel sport atv front suspension, steering, and brakes on my cart.

Thanks for the input. I too have owned/ used quads, a honda big red 3 wheeler, and an '86 honda fat cat [tr200] bought new, that I rode daily for 25 years. They built them to last back then. But a lifted golf cart is an entirely new project for me. Can't wait to finish getting the pieces to start. [12mph on those Baldini tires is starting to get boring.]

Still hoping to find some ITP interceptor 10 x 8 rims out there. There must be some NOS rims or even nice used ones around considering the amount made?

Post Re: Narrow rims

Gave up on finding 10 by 8s. Bought some 7s and went with 23 10 10 mud lites. I know they will wear on the road but I have NO patience for useless tires off road. I guess I'm spoiled working with tractors 7 days a week on the farm. Everything here has traction out the wazoo. {[If it spins/slips it digs a hole!]
