Soft ride
Was wondering which 4" A Arm lift has the softer ride. I don't want a bone jarring suspension. Anyone have any experience with either Jakes or All Sport on a Club Car DS.

Re: Soft ride
No matter what lift you go with, soft isn't going to be a way to describe the ride on a golf cart with leaf springs.
The smoothest lift will be a long travel system, but still you have a rear suspension that utilizes leaf springs and an axle block to accommodate the lift in the rear to match the front. The All Sports SS or Jake's A-arm lift will give you a better ride over stock IMO, but I still wouldn't describe them as soft. |

Re: Soft ride
Guess soft is not the correct way to describe what I am looking for. I would like the ride to not be any worse than the factory ride.

Stay away from HD springs unless you have one of them goofy back seats that hang off the rear, where passengers can only see where they've been. |

Re: Soft ride
Stovebolt, I have new 20x10-12 tires and wheels. The same tires and wheels that sst23 has. That's why I am looking for lift kit info. Have no need for rear seat, only self and wife. It's not a tour bus.

Re: Soft ride
.. I don't think any lift is going to be worse than factory as long as it doesn't have HD springs..

Re: Soft ride
Stovebolt, Thanks for your input. I am leaning towards Jakes, only because of the option of putting front brakes on at a later date. I have changed the rear springs to a set that has an overload spring added. The extra spring doesn't kick in until you put a load on the cart. Didn't want a rough ride.

Re: Soft ride
My last cart was a DS with a 6'' Jakes A-Arm lift. IMO the ride was worse than stock, It had 12'' rims/23'' tires filled at 15-20psi.

Optimal ATV Tire Pressure The right ATV tire pressure is based on manufacturer recommendation, terrain and load. Starting from the ATV and tire manufacturer recommendations, which generally range from 5 to 15 psi, take the following into consideration: Terrain — For hard surfaces, such as pavement, dirt trails, and hard snow or sand, stick with recommended pressures for best traction and ride comfort. On soft surfaces, such as gravel, mud, soft snow or loose sand, you can reduce tire pressure as low as 2.5 psi to 3 psi, which will improve traction and flotation. Any lower, however, and you risk popping the tire off the bead. http://knowhow.napaonline.com/unders...tire-pressure/ |
