2001 EZ Go Build

Well bought the cart last week and got it home. It's got "brand new" mgc tires on it. This was Friday, and I dropped it off at the house and left for Tennessee for the weekend. Now when we got back home Sunday night I found the back driver side tire flat. Since I had to work the past two days I jacked up the golf cart to take the pressure off of the flat tire because I pumped it back up and it wouldn't hold air. This morning I pulled the tire off the cart and found the inside wall had several hairline cracks in it. Luckily I have a manual tire changer so I pulled the tire off the rim for further inspection. It just appears to be that one side and it seems to be localized to the size lettering. I've called my local tire stores and found one that had a tube in stock. Going to go pick it up here in a few. Hopefully will have tire back on before dark and the cart rolling again. I know it's not the most ideal solution but I can't stand to waste a brand new tire, even if it is dry rotting.

**UPDATE**

I emailed Mr. Golf Cart about the tire and in about an hour I had received a reply from customer service and they have taken care of me. This is my first time dealing with them and I would recommend them to anyone. PSA over.

Am I missing something? You got "brand new" tires and one was dry rotted? scratching my head

I bought a cart with "brand new tires". The tires still had the nubbies all the way around, however when I got the cart home and dropped it off the tire went down which led to me finding the cracks on the inside wall. Then to make matters even better when I went to the tire store to pick up the tube I didn't check it prior to leaving, and when i got home and started to install it I realized that it was for a 8 in. rim and mine is a 10 in. This just has not been a good week for me. Exchanging the tube tomorrow and hopefully will be able to get the cart rolling and onto the next step of my plan.

Finally got the tire back on today and ready to roll. I need some ideas next...i am planning on installing a separate 12v battery to power my accessories. I am also planning to put in toggle switches and a marine fuse box to clean everything up. I'm attaching pictures of my dash and I need some ideas on panels that will work with my dash. Thanks guys.

Sounds like the guy put on new tires a while back and never realy used it much. Good looking cart!! My only suggestion would be to take your time and think hard about the upgrades before you jump into something and then later wish you would have did something different. GOOD LUCK!!! More headaches in your future I am sure, we have all had them

I just finished, well almost, upgrading an 81 CC. I have a regular set of lights on it. Filament headlights, led taillights and markers. I also have a 90w lightbar, [it actually draws 72w], and a dash panel light. The whole setup through a voltage reducer, draws 3.7 amps from the batts. Considering the motor draws 80 to 90 amps cruising on level road, [it is winter here] I figure what is 3.7amps more? Probably about as much as it would take to carry the weight of an extra battery. Plus the PIA of charging it. Just something to think about. Nice cart by the way! You are not alone with the tire, "dry rot" for a polite term is very common with these "wonderful" made in china tires. Farm implement tires from there are plagued with that. We have to put tubes in from the start even if they are tubeless. At least they hold air until the entire sidewall blows, [also very common] We avoid them like an STD around here. lol.

No updates this week, waiting for payday to get here. I do have an issue that I'm looking into...I'm not sure how or with what the cart was lifted and I notice that the cart leans to the passenger side. At first I thought it was just the fact that I'm a good size corn fed country boy who knows what biscuits are for, but it also does it with my 70 lb 11yo son in the passenger seat. My first instinct is that the suspension is lacking, but I'm open to suggestions. I am going to try to get pictures of it in a little bit.

Started with the disassembly today. Found some mild rust in and around the rear seat mount. Hit it with a wire brush for now, going to come back with a wire wheel a little later. All my goodies should be here tomorrow and will be getting put on by next week.
