Talking 2002 GEM, Zuk axles and tractor tires.

So I just picked up a 2002 GEM, 4 seater. at one point in its like someone installed a motorcycle engine in it. no engine when I got it. But plans are to chop up my current golf cart and combined it with them new project. So.. I think I will have the only GEM with zuk axles and 31" tractor tires

Old build that is being stripped for current project.

Ill post pics of it tomorrow after I get off work since I just got it home tonight and it was too dark for photos.

Interesting. At the very least you will give that "thing" a cool factor that it is sadly lacking and VERY much needing, and your passengers won't be hung over the rear bumper! Go for it!

I messed around today with it some...

Started taking some stuff off of the current cart and prepping the engine to come out.

Moved over the oil cooler... found out I can not drill holes that are level with each other :'D also figured out where I am going to put the battery (The battery in the photo is not the one going to be used)

And I started to set up the old clutch pedal for use as the gear shifter.

and who ever did the last work on this cut out a hole here... So I am going to use that area for my Hi-Low / Forward - Reverse shifters.

and that is where I am at as of right now... she is going to be a very slow build until I put a gate up at my place so i can get it into my backyard.

Well did a little work in the shop tonight... as much as i could with a 4 year old beating on the door to come in and then leaving a few secs later.

I extended the old golf cart shifters.

I made the shifter mount.

and here is everything put together. Tomorrow I need to take a trip to lowes for some bolts and nuts. I plan on drilling the holes and welding the heads onto the mount. I have under plates already cut for it also.

well change of plans on the shifters... I will no longer be using the old clutch pedal as the gear shifter. I will be using the Hi-Low shifter as the gear shifter since its right beside the seat, and I will be moving the Hi-Low range shifter to the floor. This is the shifter I made today for it.

Started on the mount for the cables that the gear shifter and Forward / Reverse will connect to under the cart. Just need the tabs to come in the mail so I can finish it up.
