G16 Lift issues
Hi guys, I picked up a nice G16 gas unit that came with a block lift but the thing drives sloppy. There is a pretty fair amount of negative tire camber but not sure if that is the cause. The cart sat for a long while and the tires on it are not very good ( I have new wheels coming). Is it possible that from sitting the tires developed flat spots that make it ride like crap?

Check kingpins and bushings for slop.

Re: G16 Lift issues
having a g14 with a recently installed block lift also.....i would check bolts, make sure nothing vibrated loose
check for play in the front steering and suspension also make sure that you do a alignment to get the wheels and steering wheel straight as can be (made a nice difference on my cart after the lift) ANother thing to make sure, your lugnuts are on snug. No need to really torque them down, but make sure that that are tight. You would be surprised how loose they can be sometimes check tire pressure too....i think 5lbs per tire is ok....someone may correct me If your looking to replace the tires (maybe rims) from flatspots (if they dont work out by themselves) i highly suggest golf cart tire supply!! I can not say enough good things about them. Prices and selection are awesome, shipping is really fast!!!! |

Re: G16 Lift issues
Worn shocks will definitely cause the camber issue. Sloppy usually means something is loose, like tie rod ends and suspension bushings. King pins will cause a little negative camber, but will cause big steering problems, not to mention it could lead to the spindle coming off and a crash.
High mile/hour carts will always need steering and suspension work, there's just no way around that. If you want a better ride and lift, ditch the block lift and invest in an LT kit. |
