Default Suggested steering alignment

I'm in the process of getting a "new to me" 1991 EZGO marathon ready for the summer. I looked it over and found that the previous owner broke one front leaf spring, and when he installed the Jake's lift... he did not fully tighten the drivers tie rod into the spindle.
First off... I installed the HD 3 leaf front springs... Huge difference! I love it!
I have both tie rods and the bar between ordered. My question is... how do you guys prefer your wheels aligned? Right now it is toe'd in, and horrible... any small bump or un-even spot in the road , and it goes everywhere but straight.
Should I try for dead straight, or toe out on the front?

I go with very minimal toe-in, like 1/16 inch. Zero would probably be OK too.

I set mine at a 1/4" toe-in, It's my thinking toe-in takes all the slack out of the steering components,
set at dead straight you're going to get some wobble somewhere.

Looks like your tie rod is hanging low Cyrus, are your tie rod-ends pointing up or down?

yep that's correct, I guess some lifts are different, is that a Jakes lift?

I'm only familiar with the All Sport lifts and install the tie-rod from the top (nuts down) then the tie-rod is even with the middle of the axle. There was a discussion on that once and some lifts the tie-rods are installed from the bottom because on some there is no room on the top for the tie-rod-ends

Also for the 2001.5 up ezgo All Sport lifts come with spindles that have raised spindle arms, some lifts just have spindle arm extensions and I guess some not.. hence lower tie-rod.

Hmmm... I don't mind the thread hi-jack.... It brings up another question... with the lift kit. Should the tie rods and crossbar have the nuts on the top of the spindles like an automobile? That's how I re-installed mine, because that's how it was when I took it apart. But.... I had to cut off the old tie rods because the previous owner didn't get them tight. And even with new ones... I had a heck of a time getting them to seat where I could get them nice and tight.

Cyrus9... It's hard to tell on your cart. But it looks like yours are dead straight, or possible toe's out a tad. Only true way is to have a friend help measure at the front/middle of the tire, and then the rear/middle of the tire and see what the difference in measurement is. More length in the front than the back side means toe out. Opposite is toe in.

Crossbar? I'm confused Monkey don't you have a Tie-rod to each wheel on the 91 and both up out of the way?

It's a marathon cart. So there is a bar from the passengers spindle to the drivers spindle like a riding mower.
But it's a good thing I got both tie rod ends! After I started to take it apart the passengers was loose also. The previous owner that installed the lift should've cleaned the threads if was re-using the old tie rods. He got the nuts tight... but it didn't seat in thee spindle.
Also If anyone with a marathon needs both tie rods ends. As one is right hand threaded, and the other is left hand threaded. I had a hard time finding the right ones. Then I thought I found the long bar and both ends.... I was wrong! It came in and it was the rod from the steering mechanism to the passengers spindle (the short rod). However..... the tie rod ends on all 4 area's are the same!
After I got my steering wheel straight and everything locked in place... I went with just a tad of toe-in. Cart drives wonderfully now! Thanks guys!
