GTW Barrage vs Sahara Classic Tires?
Hello,
I am getting ready to order wheels/tires for a 6" Jakes Spindle lift on a 2011 Club Car Precedent with a Phantom body. I am debating between the very common Sahara Classic tires and GTW Barrage tires. .......... Wheels are going to be 14/7 and I am looking at a 23" tire. My best guess of terrains that I drive on (all flat to rolling hills) are: 40% - Gravel 40% - Asphalt 20% - Grass/Trail I kind of like the looks of the Barrage and that there is a larger gap between the treads that won't grab and hold onto every little rock on the gravel roads that I drive on. But, I am not finding much information on these tires good or bad. The little bit of grass that I drive on has some fairly steep hills that are tough to get up with street tires. So, some type of all terrain or semi aggressive tire is a must to be able to get up the grass hills especially if they are wet. I am looking for any thoughts good or bad about these two tires? Or if you really want to throw a wrench in my thought process, if there is another tire option that I should be considering. Thanks in advance for your help. |

Re: GTW Barrage vs Sahara Classic Tires?
It sounds like these are a pretty new model of tires from GTW. So, there might not be many people with direct experience.
But, is there any feedback at all based on your general knowledge? Lots of views, but no comments. I suppose that no comments is a good thing. Hopefully, if I was going down a terrible path, you guys would have let me know already. |

Can't offer any help on the tires, but the site you linked is frowned upon around here.
There are site sponsors here that work hard to help us all... |

I also like the look at the GTW tires but they are both only 4 ply . I would look for a 6 ply tire if I was buying tires. I have had both 4 and 6 ply and would never buy 4 ply again but that just me

I looked through all of the site sponsors and could not find any of them that carry this tire yet. What are your main reasons for preferring the 6-Ply tire? I am guessing lifespan? Do they ride any different? Any other pros/cons for 4-ply vs 6-ply? I was not able to find this tire in a 6-ply. Thanks, Koze |

I like the look of the Barage but it may ride a little loud with that big gap.
I have the Sahara style and they are even a bit loud |

I have Sahara on my Yahama. I like the tires. They do pick up small rocks and sticks

6 ply tire gives you a stronger side wall and able to hold more weight. A little more puncture proof

Re: GTW Barrage vs Sahara Classic Tires?
That is a great point about the noise. I agree and understand that they may ride a little loud, but as you said the Sahara's will definitely have some noise too. I wonder really how much different they would be... I drive a truck with fairly noisy tires, so my guess is that I'll be able to live with the noise. Or it will be a lesson learned.
I took a look through all of site sponsors that carry tires and was not able to find any 23" AT tires for 14" rims in 6-ply. I may have missed one, but it appears that the vast majority of the tires in this size are 4-ply. |
