Post Center of Gravity

Hey guys, I won't to maintain my center of gravity, I have a 93 ezgo with a 4" lift and I have to add spacers to the wheels for clearance between the 22" tires and the springs. If I go with 2" spacers will I maintain my center of gravity. I want it to look good but above all I want it to be safe for my wife and kids to use.

Adding wheel spacers will change the track with. That wouldn't increase your COG. In fact it may lower it a bit.

Cool Re: Center of Gravity

If I understand, COG would potentially go down. That's great, I thought I would increase the height of the COG with the lift, and was hoping the 2" spacers would counter that. My original post was a little unclear, I'm adding a 4" lift, it doesn't already have it.

If you change the track width (spacers) COG will go down. Add 4" lift, COG goes up. 4" lift + wheel spacers. COG goes up but not as much as 4" lift alone. My neighbor's son just turned his lifted cart over. Stock height carts have a high COG. Add a lift kit and you've got to be careful.

Cool Re: Center of Gravity

I think I understand now, the COG will go up due to the lift. The wider track won't change the COG, hopefully the wider track will help to stabilize the higher COG.

The wider the track, the lower the COG.

I was just looking at your 4" lift thread. Anything you lift will cause it to be top heavy. Wider is better, but I wouldn't go crazy with a big lift. Always think of the safety of your riders. Also your kids taking it out alone.

My Marathon has round about 6" of lift. It also is about a foot wider. My son still laid it on it's side.

Widening the track will not change the center of gravity. Widening the base will change the pitch angle that it flops over (like outriggers on a canoe).
