Front axle flip
Okay I didn't know I was doing this today until the phone rang ....Bhfear came over with the Flag cart. It is a txt with a Jakes 6inch spindle lift, 23s, and some 2inch spacers at the spring to body mounts up front..... Well, he wants to stuff 25s under it so he comes over with extra spring mount plates and some iron pipe and 4 inch bolts..... here is what it looked like when we got done flipping the front axle. Notice the springs are now on the top of the axle which gives an additional 2 inches of lift
Of course ... we had help |

Re: Front axle flip
That does work for an additional 2 inches of lift. I used to do the same thing on the pre 2001 models, but noticed bump steer. I would fab a draglink to take care of that.

Re: Front axle flip
Quote:
I take a stock tie rod and spin it from the drivers side to the passengers side like this: Then take the other tie rod and cut it in half like this: Install one end in each of the spindle: Now take the time and do alot of measuring. With the tires on the cart and the cart on the ground, measure the front of the tires and the back of the tires until you have the tires and wheels parallel to each other. This needs to be real close, but not perfect, you can dial it in perfect after the next couple of steps. Now that you have the tires and wheels where you want them, measure the distance between the nuts on the tie rod ends. Your measurement will vary from axle to axle so make sure you leave yourself plenty of adjustment both ways. Now cut a piece of tubing (round or square-I normally use round, but had square for this particular cart), insert and weld: Build an upright to attach to the other tie rod: CHECK, check and then check again. If its not equal both directions, then move the upright. Once you have that where you want it, weld all sides and paint: |
