Home built lift and rims
Decided to be different and build my own set of rims. They are modified factory wheels and are now 8x13 with 22.5x10x8 Carlisle tires, plus made my own 6 inch lift

Re: Home built lift and rims
HEY NOW!! Pretty cool! Welcome to the addiction. When it stops raining you should take some close up shots of your work, very interesting.

Thanks. Definitely will get some closer shots. Also still have to finish the front shock mounts but I was just too excited to see what it looked like on all 4 wheels

Re: Home built lift and rims
Please post more pics. I really enjoy seeing someone think outside the box. Every real tinkerer has an old satellite dish behind their shop. Tell us about that steering wheel.

Re: Home built lift and rims
The steering wheel was on it when I bought it but I was told it came off a boat. I tried to upload a picture of just the wheels before I mounted tires to them but it's not letting me so here's one of two of them after I got the rear lift installed

Re: Home built lift and rims
Why did you widen them that much? Are you planing for wider tires?

Re: Home built lift and rims
Nice work, I sorta did the same thing on my ATV swap, I cut the centers out to gain a larger offset.., worked pretty good, I built the front end on it too, not the prettiest but it works.. also built the lift on my ezgo.. its hard to pay out the cash on some of the stuff that's fairly easy to make yourself..

Re: Home built lift and rims
Reason for the width of them is that I just wanted something totally different from everyone else. And I like the way the tires look mounted on them. Your right I couldn't spend the money on a lift when I could make it out of scrap material

Re: Home built lift and rims
There was a guy on here once from Hawaii with a crazy lifted cart, it had wide wheels like that. If you can do it and it rolls true there is nothing wrong with that. My old wheels are 8x8 and work great with a 3+5 offset. Most new wheels are 7 wide not 8. I really like them wider it seems to make the sidewall stiffer and it does not sway at all, though they are atv rated tires and stiff anyway. At 8 its not wide enough to stick the rim out of the tire, because I trail ride and could hit rocks and stuff, if you don't then no worries. Its a cool look though.
This is a different one but similar wheel size. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lifte...rt-hawaii.html Yeah I lifted my cart in 99 there were no lift kits then, just used a welder and scrap steel. Had to buy a stick of 1x1 to make the box frame and dump box. |
