CC carryall mods
I have a 1988 CC Carryall 2 gas. I'm in the process of lifting it.
1) has anyone modified the box so that it can be lifted separate from the seat? 2) I'm not sure of the best lift kit 4" or 6" 3) Tire/wheel size recommendations |

Re: CC carryall mods
This is a 1991 We just did a couple of weeks ago for a customer, that's a 6" Spindle-Lift with 23X10.5-12 Tires and rims. We wetsanded the body starting with 320-800-1500-3000 Then buffed it out into a mirror, that's always a cool look w the Carryalls ... This one had the separate dump box so we just blasted, etched, and Line-X'd it as well as replacing the original 3/4" box corners with beefier 4" ones that we fabbed up.

Re: CC carryall mods
Thanks for the reply, That's a nice looking cart. I'm doing a 6" double a-arm lift and 22-10-11 black rims then Paint the whole thing Dessert storm Sand.
I may try separating the dump from the front seat frame so I can dump without lifting the seat. Does that sound feasable to you" |

Re: CC carryall mods
It sure does, although the seatbacks would still dump with the box ...
THAT said, I hope You realize what You're getting into painting that Aluminum Body, You're looking at a bare minimum of sanding, deoxidizing and etching, then a thorough cleaning, wax/grease remover/prep, and a good 2-part Etching Epoxy Primer, otherwise anything You start spraying on there is going to be all over the shop floor and trails, etc. in a matter of weeks. Even the coatings specifically designed for Industrial Aluminum protection are going to require a bare minimum of sanding and etching - we have a local shop that does a bedliner-type coating that we use on Workhorse and Carryall boxes to spruce them up, but even that requires them to etch and use a special primer or even IT won't stick (and that stuff hardens up like nothing I've seen). Not to discourage you, just would hate to see all that hard work all over the floor / trails |
