Default Keep snapping axle shafts - custom lifted- any ideas?

I keep snapping axles and need help.

I have a custom built 4 seater golf cart with 12 inch travel air shocks in front and back. It has a rear axle out of a mid 1980s columbia par car. With bolt in axle shafts. The pumpkin is offset. So the driver side axle shaft is longer than the passenger side. The passenger side (shorter axle shaft) keeps breaking out by the outer bearing. See spot every time. It's a twist break. The axle is too small for the 14inch wheels and big dune tires that I have on it. Also it still has drum breaks in it and it also has a snowmobile gearbox on it and snowmobile breaking system. There is all kinds of reasons of why the axle keeps breaking... Bottom line is I need to find someone to machine me custom oversized axle shafts or find a whole rear end that is the right width to put under it.

Any ideas?

I've seen Suzuki samurai axels in a cart before. But it might be easier to talk to a local machine shop and see if they can make you a chromoly axel.

Custom axles, probably not cheap.

From my experience with lifted trucks, breaking axles from large tires is commonplace with stock size rears. That's why people with Wranglers use Dana 60 rears and guys with huge 2500's on 44's or tractor tires use rears from a Deuce. The guarantee fix is to get a samurai (or similar) rear and cut it down to fit. But I'd call Moser like SteveBolt suggested and talk to them first. They might guarantee the axle they make. A friend of mine had these chromoly axles in his wrangler that had a lifetime guarantee and he broke them all the time. Granted they lasted much longer than the stock pieces but he was still returning them for replacements often.

You might try to find info on an axle out of a cushman truckster or toro workman, etc, but I don't know what gearing they use. They do haul a lot of weight so assume they are more HD than that one. Yes, nice ride for sure.

On a yamaha like a G9, you can put the longer axle on the short side to make a wider axle for a high lift cart and not use spacers then. But that is a trans axle not a pig like you have. You have to align things to it of course.
