ezgo marathon hubs
anyone know of a good source for front hubs for a 94 marathon?
Im not sure if the hub is bad or just the bearings as both are starting to generate some movement back and forth (pulling and pushing) after a few years of having my larger wheels and tires, ive never did any maintenance on them since ive owned the cart now for 6 years so there probably shoot. looks like ebay has them for about 45 each shipped. just hate supporting ebay. i thought about taking the cap off and trying to just tighten up the nut and reinstall the pin just wasnt sure if that would fix the wobble issue. ((all this has been brought to my attention because my cart has become rather crazy steering while driving esp on the road it will just randomly jump left or right, ive not done an allignment on it either which was next on my list after i installed new rear springs and new shocks all around, going with adjustable gabrial air shocks on the rear and standard cheapo's for the front)) |

Re: ezgo marathon hubs
Pull your hubs and check the bearings. They may just need repacked with grease and the spindle nut adjusted. Then do the alignment before you spend any money.
If memory serves me, the EZGO front hub and bearings are the same as every utility trailer with the same 4 on 4" wheels (4.80-. EZGO hubs are aluminum but the steel trailer hubs with the same bearings and studs can run as little as $25 each at your local farm and home store. |

good to know. i was going to tear the front apart to replace the front shocks in a few weeks so i figured at the same time i was going to look into the hubs/bearing issues. |

Re: ezgo marathon hubs
forgot to ask rooster, is the dust cover center cap the same? i let someone borrow my cart and they rolled it over on its side and since then that cap has been missing since.
i think they was drunk and was on a incline and broke a few things on the passanger side of the cart. |

Re: ezgo marathon hubs
Can't answer that question, but it is very likely. I saw it on this Youtube video (not promoting the vendor he used).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odHQXO1AWDo I am making a trailer out of a salvage 1979 Marathon and the front hubs will work with the trailer type axle I am making out of tubing and purchased weld-on trailer spindles. |
