Default Steering Rack Mods Jakes LT

I started building a 94 CC DS with a jakes LT kit. I wanted to get a larger amount of lift out of the kit vs the 6" that it starts at. I figured per the install instructions and calls to their tech dept. that simply moving the top of the coilover mounting point down to one of the lower holes would provide up to 11" of lift. Unfortunately doing so puts the heim joints in bind at full droop. Calls to their tech dept. again didn't provide any satisfying answers. I have purchased some QA1 high misalignment rod ends to see if that will resolve the binding to some extent.

The real question here is for the steering rack. The ball joint at the end of the supplied rack also runs out of travel before full droop. I would like to convert the rod ends here as well. Is the cup securing the joint to the end of the rack threaded on or pressed. I tried to gently unscrew it in a vice, but I also didn't have a 1 3/16" open end to get a good amount of torque on it. Has anyone disassembled the supplied rack? I see some have run a dune buggy rack in similar fashion, I just wanted to see if I could modify the one supplied vs. buying another one.

I'm in the same boat right now. Did you ever resolve any of this? If so what did you do?

The end of the rack was indeed threaded. I purchased a Clovis that fit the end of the rack and installed a rod end at both ends of the tie rods.

Do you remember what the thread type was on the rods? Sounds like a perfect solution!!
