Default How much power loss will we have???

OK, so we have the 2000 Club Car DS. FE290. Jakes Long travel kit. 23" Duro Deserts on 14s. It's getting put together this winter, should I buy a power up kit now, or wait til I cant make it up the hill out back? Seriously though, how much should I expect to lose? This thing was far from snappy when we got it. Runs good, I think I'm just used to 2 stroke ATVs, that go 80mph...on 2 wheels....

The 23s are 22.5% taller than the original tire.
Expect an equal reduction in power. You will be wanting to upgrade.
The controller and solenoid at minimum. This will allow the stock motor to make more torque and speed.

Hmmm .... Well at least You aren't expecting miracles, LOL. I'd just assume it's time to upgrade, at very least the driven clutch. For now. The little 290's aren't exactly a "Torque Monster" to begin with, so the chances are good if You're used to any sort of "Actual" off-road vehicle You may be disappointed. The LT kit will make it a lot more fun and useable to drive though, so You've already made some sound decisions. A good Clutch Kit will restore a big chunk of the loss the tires will give, so I'd say go for it - at this point it's not a lot to spend, and considering You can just do it all at once it's likely time to pull the trigger, IMHO

OK, that's what I figured. We made an unwritten rule, that when we needed to choke it to start, it was going in, and being torn down. Well, its going to possibly be below zero with the wind chill tomorrow. Guess it's going in. I have a chance to buy a low-hour Honda GX390 for $300, but don't know just how far I want to go with this cart (It's the wife's).

So, I'll start looking into clutches today, what are some good ones to look at? And what exactly does the clutch tuning spring kit do? I'm assuming it makes it come on harder... Everything I have ever worked on has a little different clutch setup than these..

Mine is a 2000 with a fe290, was a 290 until I got the 23hp vanguard installed, anyways I have 25" tires and was kind of a dog until I got the Driven machined and the heavy duty spring installed with an HD Belt. Also installed the 200 rpm spring for the drive clutch. Helped on the hills a ton. I say I installed but I shipped my clutches off to Cart Parts Plus and they installed them for me.

Installed the Carb Jet kit with a K&N air filter as well as an advanced timing key. She did just fine any where I wanted to go even with adults on the back.

The upgrades were worth it until I could get the money together for the Vanguard.
