Default More power

I have reached a point where I would like "More Power" than our 1989 Club Car can offer.
Are the newer carts more powerful? Or should I soup the old "Gopher"up.
My heavy duty belt slips when under load and I need more towing and pulling power. It's a stock 89 with 4 knobby tires and is used as a farm utility vehicle carrying a water tank for spraying herbicide on fence lines and towing trailers around the barn yard. In the winter it's a snowmobile too, with a snow plow.
Suggestions for more power or upgrades to a newer more powerful cart.
Thanks

The newer carts are a little more powerful. Yours probably would be too with a fresh engine. After 29 years it is probably a mere shadow of its original self.

Depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. A rebuilt engine could be about $700-800. If your clutch needs freshened up and/or tuned might be another $50-$100. A different size belt can help with torque, at $35-$45. Then you could do an engine swap as a DIY project total from $500-$1500. That could net you from 13hp to 25hp. Compared to your cart new at maybe 8-9hp.

I am 95% finished with an engine swap from Vegas Carts. It is their 23hp 625cc single cylinder engine kit for a 1996 EZGO TXT. It is an impressive package with low end power like a Peterbilt logging truck and a bargain at $1500. And I have big plans to put it to work.
