Default 91 Marathon 4 vs 5 leaf hd springs

I have a 91 Marathon with a 4" Jake's drop axle and 22x11x10 tires. I'm replacing the rear springs and was curious if there is a big difference between the 4 and 5 leaf springs?

I did hours of trying to find out the answer to this question, as I have a 92 Marathon, and ordered a set of HD leafs, and got a 4 leaf setup.

I was going to return them, and order the 5 leaf ones, but it would have been too much of a hassle, and not many ppl selling them. Each leaf of the 4 leaf setup is thicker than the 5 leaf setup, so they are the heavy duty ones.

I personally think the five leaf setup is way too stiff unless you're hauling a ton of weight all the time. Even the four leaf setup was too stiff for me so I took a leaf out and it's much more tolerable. With my (now) three leaf setup, the rear only squats about 1/2" with 500 lbs. on back.

Wow, only .5" with 500lbs?

Is your cart a 4 seater?
Mine's a longer Western 400 2+2 (it's about 8.5' long).
I'm hoping it's not as stiff as yours.

Although I took out all the lead acid and replaced with lithium, so I may be in for rough ride...

Yeah it's a four seater. With 5 leafs it didn't budge one bit. Riding it was like a lumber wagon. I still have the Trojan's in it so yes with lithium you'll shave an extra 300 plus pounds. Luckily the spring packs are easy to disassemble so I'm sure you'll be able to find the cart's happy place.
