Anyone make lower gears for a 97 EZGO TXT?
Anyone know of gears that are lower than factory. I put 23" tires on and love the height but miss the get up and go.

Not sure about the gears, I was thinking dana offerd that rearend in another ratio like 14 to 1 but that little difference isn't worth the cost or trouble of changing it. Get Tom at CCP to hook you up a driven clutch, that'll fix your problem. Or you could always try the shorter belt trick.

The driven clutch machining is similar to a 28 DEGREE clutch?

I don't really know, I've never found a need to have one machined. my carts either have a shorter belt or the 28deg clutch. ask Tom

So the 28 clutch starts off much faster but won't go as fast?

Re: Anyone make lower gears for a 97 EZGO TXT?
No. what the 28deg clutch does is delays the opening of the clutch so the engine builds up more RPMs/horse power. the top speed will be the same with either 36deg or the 28deg. The machined ones could/should have a better overall top speed vs the factory ones, that kinda depends on what's done to it.

Well I ordered a 28degree clutch:) I am kinda excited if this helps with the lowend grunt. The cart performs much better than stock!

Re: Anyone make lower gears for a 97 EZGO TXT?
I put 22" tires on my stock workhorse and it really didn't want to go. My 36 degree was worn out and BROKE, so I bought the 28. You will be very happy with what you bought. That heavy, worn out cart will climb and can actually spin tires on a steep hill. Yours will be awsome.
It can run out to the revlimiter on the top and goes about as fast as I want to go. A 1" shorter belt gives real good (almost jerky) throttle response, but drops the top end speed. Not worth it with the 28 deg. clutch. Have lots of fun!! |
