What would you suggest to fix ride quality?
2007 EZGO ST350 2+2
Stock 4” EZGO lift 12” rims on 22’s, 15 psi Picked the cart up for cheap and have been slowly transforming it, but the ride quality is killing me.....and more importantly my wife! Any type of decent bounce or bump is bone jarring. It’s got the stock 4 leaf, HD springs and the original shocks. Just need new shocks? 3 leaf springs (dual action) instead of 4? Do I go to coil overs? Different lift? I’m not sure what’s the best route to go, don’t remember my previous cart (2002 TXT 36v, 6” lift) riding this rough, so before I start just trying stuff I figure I would consult the pros. Pics of before and after for reference. Appreciate it! |

Drop the air pressure down to about 8 or even 6 pounds.

Re: What would you suggest to fix ride quality?
You lost a lot of sidewall going from 10 to 12" diameter rims. Secondly, the HD springs are designed to carry a load. When they aren't you are driving a buckboard. Try lowering tire pressure as suggested. You may have to raise the rear pressure if you put two big people on the back but test it first. Using the dual rate rear springs could help too. That is what auto manufacturers use on 3/4 and 1 ton pickups to ease the ride a bit.
After 17 years if HD springs on my TXT I have seriously contemplated reinforcing my rear shock mounts to allow use of air shocks for carrying a load. And lowering the pressure when the bed is empty. The rear airbag setup on my F250 does a great job under load and when empty. Wish they made some tiny airbags for carts. |

Re: What would you suggest to fix ride quality?
Optimal ATV Tire Pressure
The right ATV tire pressure is based on manufacturer recommendation, terrain and load. Starting from the ATV and tire manufacturer recommendations, which generally range from 5 to 15 psi, take the following into consideration: Terrain — For hard surfaces, such as pavement, dirt trails, and hard snow or sand, stick with recommended pressures for best traction and ride comfort. On soft surfaces, such as gravel, mud, soft snow or loose sand, you can reduce tire pressure as low as 2.5 psi to 3 psi, which will improve traction and flotation. Any lower, however, and you risk popping the tire off the bead. http://knowhow.napaonline.com/unders...tire-pressure/ Good idea to get an ATV low pressure gauge for accuracy.. |

Re: What would you suggest to fix ride quality?
Appreciate the insight front everyone. Use to be fine but now we have a little one and my wife seems to think it needs to be a softer ride. Told her to be careful or it will disappear and there will be a RZR in the garage instead lol.
I’ll drop pressure and look into the dual action. Plus I’m fairly certain the stock shocks are worn out so I’ll probably replace those as well. Too bad there isn’t an easy “use these shocks and it’ll help a ton” type deal. |

For a softer ride stick with stock replacement shocks. Gas charged auto shocks will be valved for much heavier vehicles and likely give a stiffer ride.

Re: What would you suggest to fix ride quality?
Just picked up 4 new shocks and the dual actions springs, see how this goes...

Re: What would you suggest to fix ride quality?
I have those same tires. I run 7 psi front, 14 psi rear.
