2002 TXT cart "wanders" while driving
After my recent accident, I am looking at making my cart more stable. I feel it wobbles a lot, which I personally believe is more than normal. I have ordered plates to help adjust the toe-in to make sure I am doing that correct.
Could it be a bad steering linkage? I don't see rebuild kits for 2002, is there anything to check on it? With 23" tires, do I have other options for a lift? I am currently using a 6" Jake's spindle lift. I thought spindle was better than drop axle. What is the best one for stability? If it is a drop axle, how would I swap if I don't have my original spindles? |

I vote for dropped axle lift, All Sports make a 5" for 2001.5 and newer that comes with spindles and will handle 23" tires..
Never heard of plates to adjust toe-in, I use a ruler. |

Spindles aren’t really known for the handling aspect but if your Toe isn’t set right it will track all over too.

If the spindle bushings are worn loose it will be hard to get the toe in adjusted and keep it adjusted.

Re: 2002 TXT cart "wanders" while driving
The lift is about a year old so I don't think they are worn to that point. I started looking more at lifts after I posted and didn't realize drop axles come with new spindles.
Here is a link to toe plates. It might be a waste of money but I don't want to wind up in the hospital again. |

Re: 2002 TXT cart "wanders" while driving
I’ve got the Jakes long travel and it’s pretty stable. Lots of different kinds of adjustment and adjustable coil-over springs. It pushed the wheels out and forward, also seemed to slowed the steering a bit. My turning radius seems to be less but maybe that’s not a bad thing on a hopped up cart. I’m looking at getting 2” wheel spacers for the rear to push those out as well. Mine was about $350 more than other lifts I was looking at and I didn’t have to buy the new front leafs and bushings so it wasn’t that much more. On yours it costs more than mine because it has off road spindles and a new steering rack. With my new speed I’m glad I have it, but over 25mph I use two hands on the wheel and slow my input to the steering.
I’ve got the 3 leaf progressive springs and new factory shocks on the rear, to reduce roll you could get air shocks or atv shocks that I’ve read other members have done. Remember I have no experience with other lifts so take this with a grain of salt. |
