How does your 48v cart perform
Hey guys I have a 36v series cart with a 250amp stock controller and motor. It is kind of a dog when I drive it around the property. I am considering upgrading to 48v and a 500 amp controller with a high torque motor, but I don't want to spend the money if I'm not going to get the desired results. So my question is for those that are already running a similar 48v system. How long does a charge last for you, what kind of capabilities does your cart have off-road, climbing hills?
My property is fairly hilly, and I would like to get 6-8 hours of run time out of a charge. Currently my 36v set up gets me about and hour and quits climbing hills about 30min into the journey. Sent from my H1611 using Tapatalk |

Re: How does your 48v cart perform
I was in the exact same boat as you, and made the upgrade. I converted to 48v, 500 amp controller and torque motor.
I've just had it done a few days, but so far I'm very pleased. I haven't had a chance to test the longevity of the batteries though. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lifte...ml#post1530881 |

Re: How does your 48v cart perform
I have a 1998 CC DS that was 36v series. When it was 36v it could barely drive up hills without a running start, let alone trying to stop and restart on one. It just wouldn't do it. I installed a C54 kit from Carts Unlimited (500 amp Alltrax, HD F&R switch, HD solenoid, and 2 gauge cables). I also purchased a used 48v pack of trojans. I am still running my stock motor, and plan to until it dies. It isn't much faster (maybe 5mph faster on my stock motor) with the new parts, but it accelerates much faster from a stop (a lot more torque). I can start and stop on hills and bumps now, before if I stopped I would have had to get a running start again. The conversion was a huge improvement in my club car.

Re: How does your 48v cart perform
Generally speaking, a battery pack has about 110 minutes of actual pedal time in it at medium draw. That means you will get more under light load and less under heavy load like big tires and steep hills.

With 48v and a torque motor hills won’t be a problem anymore. You might need to convert your usage to miles instead of hours to better calculate usage.
