Looking for advise 1999 EZGO TXT
Looking for some advise from the members here. I just picked up a 1999 EZGO TXT with the 29C motor. Going to be used almost exclusively on the Sporting Clays course. I'm looking at adding better tires, and a lift. I'm thinking either a 4 inch block or 6 inch axle drop. I'm looking at AT tires on steel wheels, since I'm not looking for "Bling". From my reading on here I'm thinking either 22 or 23 inch tires. This would mean a 4 inch block lift for the 22's, or a 6 inch drop axle for the 23's.
Having not built a cart before, looking for advise, should I just go with the drop axle, regardless of the tire size? I looked at the a arm kits, but given the limited use I don't think it's needed. Thanks, Scott |

Re: Looking for advise 1999 EZGO TXT
Hi Scott, just my opinion but I would go for the 5" dropped axle lift with 22" tires on 10" wheels. 23s only come in a 12" wheel size and ride rough. Block lifts are Junk and spindle lifts have a poor turning radius.
Also make sure the Steel wheels are offset or won't work. |

Re: Looking for advise 1999 EZGO TXT
Ditto what StoveBolt said. The 5" drop axle lift is perfect for 22 or 23" tires. Better you choose the 10" rims specifically for the ride. I switched to 12" rims with 23" tires to get the right tread pattern in a six ply tire for a specific purpose. The 12" rims make a much rougher ride no matter what tire pressure you use. You can see the All Sports 5" lift is more than enough fender and ground clearance for even 23" tires.

Re: Looking for advise 1999 EZGO TXT
Thanks for the recommendations, drop axle with 22's it is. I've only been able to work on the cart a little bit, but it did get used this past weekend. Replaced both belts, air filter and plugs, and the fuel filter. It started hard initially, but ran ok all day after that. Last night I replaced the fuel and pulse lines. It does seem to have an issue backshifting still, I may need to service the clutches.
