Adding an All Sports Long Travel - lots of questions
Here goes nothing.
Adding and All Sports 6" Long Travel and 23inch AT tires to my 2012 CC Precedent. 5 minutes in and I have my first problem. Can't get the driver side front tire off. One lug post is spinning free. A) Any idea how to get a grip on it so I can loosen the nut? I've tried a few different sets of pliers and can't secure it enough to break the lug. B) Can this be fixed even if I do get the lug free or will I need to buy a whole new part. Sorry...not sure what its called. <iframe src="https://onedrive.live.com/embed?cid=69593365954E34B4&resid=69593365954E34B4% 21276&authkey=AHn9L20jjq3gle8" width="180" height="320" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

You can try drilling the stud from the back starting out small and slowly working up to a large enough bit to remove the flared head from the stud allowing it to pull through.
As for if you can press a new stud in afterwards I would most likely say no as the hub is aluminum and the stud is steel and the hub is the weak link. |

To make the above easier, you could take the whole hub and tire assembly off as one piece and put on your workbench. Also if you don't want to replace the hub, just use the same size bolt and stick it through from back, but you'll have to use a backup wrench every time you take the tire off and put it back on. |

Unfortunately, the only way you'll be able to take the hub off WITH the rim,
is to break off the rim center cap to access the hub bearing/grease cover and remove the hub/bearing nut... There are replacement center caps, but you might have to buy a set of 4 so they all match. |

Re: Adding an All Sports Long Travel - lots of questions
you should have drilled it from the front enough to break the lug nut off . then punched the lug stem knurl back though . but now that you have started from the back can you punch the stem though from the back. Once removed the hole will enlarged , using the ball end of a ball peen hammer you should be able to shrink the hole size with few blows (both sides) . A late 80's mustang lug stem should be the right size stem . With a few washers and a standard lug nut you should be able to wrench in anew stud . make sure not to cross thread fore that is what happened to the one you have problems with.

The stud bore on that hub is trashed. Once you get the stud out you will need a new hub anyway, for $50.
Just pull the hub or dremel the corner of the alum hub from the back till that corner breaks. You should be able to get it to break without risk to the wheel. Then get it all in the open where you can finish dremeling the stud in half. |
