Stealth 72v only has 48volts to solenoid/motor

Hello, I am new to the forum! I have a 2011 Stealth commander that is 72 volts. My main solenoid just went out and I noticed it is a 48 volt solenoid. I replaced it with a higher amperage solenoid. With all my meter testing it seems that the cart is basically running on 48 volts... I have 51v at solenoid and key switch. Just seems strange to me, does anyone have any input on why that is? I read just over 72v on the outside of battery pack but can’t figure out where or why it reduces down... thanks for any help guys!

When I first got my Stealth Apache I immediately noticed the last 2 batteries were wired in parallel while the 1st 6 were wired in series giving me 36v across the pack, and I wondered why the previous owner did that. I rewired the last 2 in series giving me 48v and haven't had any trouble since.

But if you're reading 72v across the pack and the wire to your solenoid and key switch are reading 51v, that's another problem. Some of the electrical experts here will have to chime in on that, but the first thing that comes to my mind would be controller problems. By the way if you're running a 72v system, and only reading 72v with a fully charged pack, you have battery problems too.

Thanks for the input. I have new batteries. And yes the full pack volatage is a little over 72. Does yours have an onboard computer? My main + cable from battery pack to solenoid passes through an OBC that has some type of diagnostic plug on it. I can’t imagine that steps the voltage down, but it is the only thing that makes any sense. I also don’t know what type diagnostic reader fits that box. (It looks like a club car precedent but larger)

When my 48v system is fully charged I'm reading a little over 54v so when yours is full up I would think you'd be in the 75v to 77v range.

Again the electric people will have to answer. But from what I've read, the OBC is what regulates your charger and the Controller controls voltage to your motor. My Controller is mounted behind the seat under a little cover, and it is a pain to get to because I have a seat over it that folds down to make a platform. You can see it from underneath easier.

I've never seen a 72v unit with an OBC. Can you post pictures of your battery setup and the OBC you mention

SUNOCO I have attached a few pictures. (I hope I did it correctly) 2 of the box that the main + cable runs through between pack and solenoid. Also, a couple pictures of my chain. To me it looks like it has too much slack causing it to rub on housing and try to jump off sprockets... the small sprocket looks worn pretty bad on the teeth. Do you know where I can find a replacement sprocket? I will send a couple pictures of batteries when I get home. Thanks!!!

I’m assuming that box in question went to the factory charger... no wires going to it, just the + cable passing through. If anyone knows where I might find a 16tooth sprocket that would be great! I’m down to 2wd
