T145 or T605 for bad boy buggies
How much difference would I notice in power or run time, if I go with the 605 rather than t145?

Re: T145 or T605 for bad boy buggies
You’re probably going well off-road with the BBB and the last thing that you want to worry about is how much juice you have left in the battery pack. I have a BBB 2012 Classic with 8 Trojan 145’s. I use a separate battery for the winch and some of the 12 volt load although I have a 48 to 12 volt reducer for some light lighting loads. I can run all weekend at the camps without having to worry about recharging and have never run low enough that I’ve worried about the return trip! If I were to replace the pack I would now consider a Lithium conversion for the much lighter weight and overall advantages of the pack. It depends on trails, hills , speed and rolling resistance but I’ve estimated 30 mile range. Not bad at all for 4wd 38 horsepower worth of motors. I don’t know which BBB that you have but the Hybrids seem interesting although some had some trouble with them early but now seem to have ironed out those issues. I have a Tahoe Hybrid 4WD which has now about 255,000 miles on it so electric and off-road is in my blood. Get the best batteries that you can afford and save in other areas; you won’t regret it!

Thanks Pilot. I’ve been considering those lithium ion packs, seems like would be worth the cost by far. My buggy is a 06 classic that I’m working on It has electrical issues , but I’ve got to get batteries so I can fully diagnose its problems. Hate to spend a whole lot only to find out that it would need all the expensive controllers replaced.

8 145s will cost you at least $1600, and that's probably without tax. I just bought a set of lithium batteries for $1300. Charger was $300. You could easily do the same, and then if your batteries run everything fine, add a bms for about 150-200.
the lithiums will sell on here easily if you don't want them. |
