Must be a thick adapter or the wheel is a deep dish? I think it would be as simple as removing the shaft and cutting it down & rewelding and then trimming the cover?

Club Car has shorter columns. 2-3". If you have any fab/welding skills, you can cut the shaft in the middle, grind a chamfer on the cuts, lay it in a piece of angle iron and weld it. Just cut the same amount off of the end of the aluminum tube.

find someone that knows what they're doing... mine has been chopped 4" ...custom cart shop here in the houston area will do it for $120
