Default Jakes 3” spindle lift rear install help

Installing my lift this evening on a 2016 EZGO TXT/Valor. Front end install was pretty straight forward. The rear is going well but after I finished the passenger side rear, the additional lift caused the rear brake to lock up. Looking closer, it appears to be a tight fit around the brake bracket and leaf spring.

Is the the correct course of action just to loosen the brake cable or do I need to make additional changes due to the tight clearance? Pics for reference

Loosen the brakes a bit. They are mechanical cables and the lift likely lengthened the distance enough to tighten the cable.

Thanks. That’s what I was hoping for but did not want to get everything installed and buttoned up only to find out I missed a step.

Even with the cable adjusted it looks like it could still bind on the bracket and not work. try flipping the hubs from side to side. I had to do this on my 2015.

Yep. Flip the brake assemblies from right to left and left to right to get the brake lever below the axle.

Are their any good resources for how to deal with the drum brakes on an EZGO for the flip? I’ve never messed with drum brakes before. Discs, yes... Drums. Nope!!!!

Also, can you lengthen the brake cables? I adjusted the pedal to release pressure but didn’t see a way to physically lengthen the cables themselves.

Unhook the cables from the small lever on the backing plate. Then unbolt the entire brake assembly from the axle flange. After you remove the wheels and hub/drums of course.

TXT service manual downloads are available in the tech sub forum for EZGO.
