Default Jakes kit came in an I have a few questions

when it says the button hole bolt goes in the third hole from the left do they mean the lower hole on passenger side?

also what size lift is it ? as each hole down lifts it one inch according to the instructions with the inside hole being for a softer ride.

also what is the center to center spacing on the rear shackles? mine was lifted in the rear by the use of long shackles and I ordered new stock ones but there is no shipping date so I will drill the long ones to the stock hieght for now

my rivet kit is in limbo as well so can someone tell me what size rivets are used for the cowl, weather strip on the side and the dash

anyone have tips on chamber settings?

thanks for the help

Mike

Did the kit come with directions? Can you take a good pic or upload them?

kit came with directions but it was unclear

" Use the allen button head bolt
(ITEM Z) on the third hole from the left on the bottom with the nut towards the front of the
cart for steering clearance."

it should have read put the button hole bolt on the driver's side bottom hole with the nut facing out towards the bumper.

also my kit is missing the extreme shock mounts, and none of the control arms were marked so I had to do things twice, lol .

I hope you got it sorted out, kinda late on this. Did you end up calling Jakes tech support? I've installed many of their lifts and have used the tech support, they were very helpful. Sometimes you can find a video on YouTube where someone has installed the same lift, might help to watch. Also do a search here to see if you can find some photos of the same cart/lift.

I have the Jake's kit #6221 which is listed as a 6" long travel kit.

the kit did not come with the extreme duty upper shock mount and one the conical spacer for the top mount. this makes the bolt head and and conical space bottom out against the shock mount and not moving freely. Jakes has sent out conical washers to remedy that.

none of my control arms had id tags on them so I had to guess what went where and I guessed wrong the first time but I quickly saw the error of my ways and with impact tools it was not a big deal, but it could have gone easier had the labels been stuck on the control arms instead of laying loose in the wrappers.

I am using the inner second hole down from the top for my upper shock mount. with the wheels off the ground I backed the spring keepers out so the spring just barely touched the lower spring perch. this only gives me about 1.5 to 2" of down travel. I was thinking maybe I will get a little more travel when I put the hiem joint washers on the upper shock mount. when I had my rhino or my LT 400 quad I had about 5 inches of drop and about 6" of up travel and the springs were lighter despite that the Rhino was much heavier.

I saw on other write up that he shocks are nitrogen filled, I have King shocks on my lifted Excursion so I have the tool for checking and adjusting the nitrogen pressure in the shocks, what PSI are you running?

thank you for all the help Mike

It's hard for me to understand whats going on without seeing what you're having an issue with. Any chance you can post some pics?

The Jakes LT kit should have about 8" of total travel, approx. So 4" up/4" down at the spindle. The actual shock will not have 8" of travel, maybe 3-5" total.

Is it possible that something is binding causing a lack of travel?

The camber is set by adjusting the heim joints at the spindle. Camber should be set near zero, meaning the wheel/tire should be straight up and down, 90 degrees with the ground.

I don't know the psi for the nitrogen. It should say in your instructions, if not I would call Jakes for that spec.
