EZGO Flip?
I have a 2003 EZGO TXT, 4" lift, 22x11x12 tires, stock gas engine. I did the Gates 6098 drive belt swap. I have this at the lake with some fairly steep hills. The average incline is about 25% (1 foot rise per 4 feet of run.)
The problem now is the cart sometimes feels like it wants to flip over backwards when going up the steep hills. The occurs even with just me (200 pounds) in it. I can feel the front tires coming off the ground. 30 years ago I would have thought that was cool, now it is just scary! (My '96 lifted electric Club Car has no problem.) Should I add some weight to the front? Any suggestions of how much and where to add? Thanks. |

Re: EZGO Flip?
weight's are going to detract from the carts general overall performance, both speed and front suspension, and I would think you would need at least 100#'s as far out in front as possible. Look for old tractor plate weights if you are serious, but you already have a "wheelie" bar with the back seat footrest that should keep you from fliipin'. Maybe you could just add some elliptical shaped pieces of flat steel on both sides, underneath your footrest? You see that on that back of some RV trailers to keep them from rubbing when going through a Dip... (Read disclaimer here).....

Re: EZGO Flip?
You are probably correct, the foot rest would keep it from flipping. I don't need the speed. Maybe I'll look at trying to rig some removable weights, so when I'm not on the hills I can take them off.

Re: EZGO Flip?
If you get on a steep enough incline I doubt that foot rest is going to do much as far as stopping the cart from flipping. Even if by some chance it does stop it, standing straight up and down on the side of a hill will be hair raising enough and probably lead to it flopping on it's side then it'll roll down the hill. If you want the cart to be more stable climbing hills the fill your front tires about 3/4 full with windshield washer fluid or antifreeze. that'll put weight right where you need it and doesn't alter the appearance. You could even do the back tire if you want, it'll make the cart more stable and get better traction in most cases.

Re: EZGO Flip?
I'm having the same problem on some steep inclines were we go riding. I'm planning on a winch out front to add some weight (and be useful). If that doenst cut it I'll add a couple of those small 20lb suitcase tractor weights available at any home depot or lawn & garden shop.

Re: EZGO Flip?
I feel the same way in mine. Yours looks like mine where the rear is sagging a little more than the front. Okay experts, would stiffer rear springs and possibly lifting the rear an inch or two more than the front help?
do you have a real fire hydrant on your property by your shed? |

Re: EZGO Flip?
The fire hydrant is real, just not hooked to anything. (I was involved in the demolition of my former work location and kept this as a souvenir.) If I ever get my lake house built, it will become some type of "yard art".
I'm thinking of adding a front brush guard, and laying a 70 pound sand bag across the front. That way I can easily remove it for level road use. |

80lb bag of sac-crete is only around $4, about $4 worth of bungee cords and you'll be set up |
