95 sleEZ-go Build
My first cart, I have been saying I was going to build one of these for about 3 years and finally fell into a good buy. I bought a 95 sleEZ-GO for $300 blown motor but the cart was in like new condition. So the plan is for CPP 18hp BB and REAL long travel suspension! Elka piggyback Long Travel on Quad A-Arms up front. I wanted to strip quad and build those parts to a cart but I sold quad about a year ago and only have parts left. I NEED A NEW TOY and now I will have one.... I will keep adding to my post as the progress goes. Between work, wife, and 11 month old it's tough to find the garage..
So here is my progress so far, Also what is the average height everyone has there lift set up at. From the bottom of my cart frame I have 16 in. Is that too much or what do you think? Stripped Down: A mock up of ride height and rearend with Quad Tires mounted Another shot of rearend ride height This is what the front end will look like once I get back in the garage |

Nothing new other then i shot some primer on the frame.... I haven't had time to be in the garage. I got he metal bought to build the front end frame to mount the YFZ a-arms and shocks but that is all i have gotten done. Thanks for the follow up i will make sure i post progess pic's as this beast comes along.

Re: 95 sleEZ-go Build
So got a few more things done last night.... I got the bottom frame built for the A-arms and the lower a arm and shock mocked up. I got a pretty good feeling i will have to order a stiffer main spring from Elka for my front shocks once all the weight is on them. I am waiting on my front spindle/hub to finish the front end so the frame rails for the a arms at the right height. Once they finally arrive then i can proceed with front end. I do have a concern about the pitman arm on the steering. Has anyone ever modified that arm? I'm a little concerned about clearance for the tie rods... I also mocked up the back end a little more i got my cross support bar in place. I put that in since i will be mounting rear shocks off of that rough location. I tend to lean towards over building rather then it braking.... Then i shot a little primer on frame work to brighten it up and look for stress fracture cracks or cracks general. Everything looked good so that makes things a little easier....I'm just waiting on some parts to come in then i can take the next step. Hopefully i will have the front end done by the 4th...
[IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] So there is the front end progress it's a little dark but it gives you an idea of how it's coming along. As you can see the shocks are pretty long and are going to require some sitting back and looking before i dive in for the rest of the front end. I need to go get some mearsurements off of an actual quad and that should make angles and rough location easier.. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] From the pictures you can see what i'm thinking for mounting placement. If anyone has suggestions to good and bad please let me know. I'm going to weld tabs to the top of rearend tubes for lower mounting and i have 1/4" thick strap that i'm going to make enclosure top mount out of. Advice and thoughts would be great I know people have mentioned good and bad about rear coil over 3 link set up but i think i'm going to try it. I already have the shocks so it's not costing me anything other then time. The rear shocks are stiffer then HE.L so either i will like it or i will rip it out and change it back to stock like. One last picture of hopefully where my ride height stays after i get her wheels on the ground... [IMG][/IMG] |
