Remove Body or not for lift kit install?
Probably a silly question. I'm getting mentally ready to install an All Sports A-Arm Lift Kit on a 2006 Club Car DS Electric. Is it necessary to remove the body to get to all the places one needs to get to to do the install? Thanks.

Thanks, Scottyb. I appreciate your advice. If I ever "git 'er done" I'll be a happy man. Unfortunately my mechanical skills are not what most of you have on this site so I am listening with open ears. Bill

Re: Remove Body or not for lift kit install?
i asked dirty that question and he says you don't need to remove the body....i did it anyway so i could inspect my cart better turned out to be a good thing as i found the source of some really irritating rattles and squeeks....

Re: Remove Body or not for lift kit install?
i put an allsports 6" lift on my '06 cc - it was pretty simple, took me a good part of the day to do it, the ball joints seemed to be the hardest part to remove. Everything else was easy.
i didn't have to remove the body to get to anything. |

I installed the 7.5 a-arm allsports on a 97 and did not need to remove the cowl. Like previously said it isn't a bad idea for a good inspection, especially if you are going to be "USING" the cart like most of us do.

Re: Remove Body or not for lift kit install?
I did mine in about 2.5hrs without removing the body. If you dont have 2 floorjacks the back end can get tricky... I used some large zipties as ''extra hands'' because I did mine alone. I used them to hold the subber in the frame in the front and the swingarm up close to the leafsprings. The WORST part were the top rear shock mounts on mine. And when you get done with the front, set it back down on its wheels before you try to adjust the camber and caster. I think it left that out in the instructions.
I used : 3/4'' socket 9/16'' socket 1/2'' socket maybe some 5/8'' on the leafsprings -and wrenches to match all sockets. a ball joint seperator 2 jack stands the factory jack from my workvan 4 beers You can do it James |

Re: Remove Body or not for lift kit install?
Well, only time will tell. I ordered the kit, wheels and tires from Everything Carts tonight. I ordered the All Sports SS 4" lift kit and 20" tires on 10" wheels. I hope that this bad boy will do what I want it to. This one is not for looks but to let me go some places I don't have nerve to go now. Bill-e-boy and jahaiap got me a bit nervous about the ball joints but I figure it this way. If we mess it up, there is always someone who can fix it. Scottyb and Dirtysouth, do you make house calls? Thanks to all of you for help. Stand by for more!

Re: Remove Body or not for lift kit install?
No... A BFH will work fine. Remove the nut from the joint, hit the side of the OE steering arm " NOT THE JOINT!!! ". It may take 4 or 5 swings, but the joint will pop loose from the taper. Another way is to loosen the nut and put a pry bar between the steering arm and the tie rod and hit the Arm the same way...
