Default Need help from SoCal guys front brakes- Scottyb

I talked to http://wheelsca.com/index.html the other day about building a set of front brakes for the Yamaha. We were discussing how the Yamaha lifted carts with long travel suspensions. We may be able to use a EZGo front spindle. I think the yamaha Spindle uses a 1/2 hardened bolt and the EZGo uses a 5/8. So all you would need to do is use a 1/16 thick bronze sleeve on a EZGo spindle for Yamaha Long Travel front suspension like a Jakes. (I know, I have one )

OR he could use a Yamaha G2-G22 front spindle. He was saying he did not have any yamaha front spindles around to play with.

ScottyB do you have any extra ones that you could drop off for a week or so for him to play with. I don't have a spare set or I would send him a set.

I think that I can hook up a master cylinder on my G16 myself. I just need the spindles done.

I wish I did. But not much use for Yamaha parts around here. If you can get a pair and ship them to Rick he could outfit them with the caliper mounts.... You need to check the ezgo hub depth too? No? Sounds like a can of worms

thanks Scotty - I am thinking that I could use the Yamaha Spindles with 1/16 thick bronze sleeves in a the EZ Go spindles on my Jakes Long travel. Since Rick makes new billet hubs the depth does not matter

Randy
Rick mentioned he was working with you. I believe if you have a set of Yamaha spindles G2-G21 I believe he can mock up a set of brake caliper mounts on the spindles.

The end goal is to have a set of front brakes for a Yamaha that do not require spacers on the wheel bolts.

Well i just recieved my 4 wheel disk brakes for my ruff & tuff. I had to send my stock spindles out to him, and he machined new ones for me. It came out awsome. I should finish installing them today if i get a chance. So far, its pretty simple, all i have to do is connect the lines and im done!

Welcome mcr1994.I think you hold the lurk record! ...... The biggest problem they have is bleeding these little buggers.... It is reccommended to bench bleed the master prior to instalation. we had trouble with mine as the resevior was so small and distant that the fluid didn't want to come down to the MC. I ended up using a little air pressure to force-fill the system... I really wish he had gone to a better Resevior. It leaks in offroad driving. KEEP us posted....How about some pics?

Also.... on the brake lines you will not believe how much force is needed to tighten the lines at the union blocks to stop the leaking
