1998 Gas Club Car - Newbie looking for direction
Hello,
I am the new owner of a 98 Club car (gas). I have a lot of work to do to this cart and my first point of business is going to be to lift it. If anyon could point me to a forum on lifting a Club Car I would be very grateful. I am specifically looking at the differences between A-frame lift and a spindle lift. My tire and wheel package will probably be Duro Desert 22x11x10 on steel 3:5 wheels. Thank you for your time. Mad Flamingo. |

Re: 1998 Gas Club Car - Newbie looking for direction
Thank you ScottyB - I looked at Jakes spindle lift, and then seen the A-frame lift at BU. I was actually leaning towards the A-frame lift. BU say there A-frame lift is sturdier than spindle lifts. Of course I understand BU is "SAYING THIS"... Thats the reason I posted this. I would like to hear from real people on what is better. The BU A-frame lift talks about extending the suspension and additional 1 3/4", and comes with beefier than stock rear springs. The price is about $255.00 and the Jakes spindle lift is about $300.00. The beefed up rear springs and the extension are what have me scratching my head and trying to figure out what is best. Also, the money part plays in the game as well.
I am planning moderate trail riding, but if I want to go through some rough stuff, I don't want to have to worry about it. Again, thanks for your input.... Mad Flamingo |

Re: 1998 Gas Club Car - Newbie looking for direction
Welcome Mad_Flamingo! Our Jake's spindle lifts are cast from ductile iron. Ductile iron is 3x stronger than grey iron. Ductile is the same material used for spindles on Class A motor homes and tractor trailers. All of our spindles also come pre-drilled to accept our front hydraulic brakes. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely some cheaply made weak imported spindle kits out there. Ours are not in that class. Good luck!

Thank you for your input, it is greatly appreciated. Do you have any suggestions for the back end of my cart? I would like to put some beefier support back there. Also, Does Jake's spindle lift provide any extension to the wheel base?
Thanks bunches, Mad Flamingo |

no it doesnt but all sport makes a 2.5'' wheel spacer that sats the front end out just right. i think they run about 60 bucks for the set.made out of aluminum.they also make a 1'' spacer.we used on the back to line the tires back up.wider is more stable.

I believe it does give 1.5 inch to the wheel base and a couple of inches to the width... Check the Jakes site I'm sure they spell it out there... I have done some very rough off roading with my CC elec. and the Jakes spindle lift worked flawlessly.
