83 cc lift or not?
i have a 83 cc 36v. over the winter i'm looking to do some mods. been thinking about a 6" spindle lift. question is having the old style steering box instead of a rack will this put stress on the steering box which from what ive read is hard to find. i'd hate to break something and hear " i told you to leave it alone" thanks

Right! there are not too many of those around... I don't think anybody makes a lift kit for it?

Re: 83 cc lift or not?
if i was going to lift one of those older ones i would convert it to the newer steering set up. however this could be more cost prohibitive than anything. might be beter to start with a newer cart?

Re: 83 cc lift or not?
I think it would be a reasonable task to charge over to a Rack & Pinion steering? Pricey, But anyway, I have recently seen all the refurb kits still available for the steering box so I wouldn't be scared if a '83 is what you got ...go for it

Re: 83 cc lift or not?
If you get the AS 6 inch long travel it comes with a steering rack.

Re: 83 cc lift or not?
thanks for the replies. i had considered a switch over but wasn't sure if it was easily done. how much fab is there to mount a rack or will it bolt in? probably not. as for the long travel, i think i'm getting into as much as i paid for the cart. thanks again

Re: 83 cc lift or not?
I have an 82 DS I put a 6" lift A-Arm lift on a couple years ago and had no problem with the steering. Now, hitting the garage wall at full speed did a little damage to the metal mount that I"m now trying to fix (solenoid problem)
