How big of a tire you use has more to do with how much power you have to turn them and how much clearance you have to fit them ...... what tread grips the sand best is a whole other discussion

Re: 20x10x10 good for Florida sand
i guess my question is, am i going to have enough flotation with the 20 inch tire?
the standard 18 golf course tire will not go through the sand where i live. |

The standard golf course tire here in florida is using an 18 inch hole shot. They are fine with sidewalks and well manicured grass. If you go with a mildly agressive A/T, you should be fine.
What part of Florida are you in? |

Re: 20x10x10 good for Florida sand
If you're talking about white Florida sugar sand, you will have to have enough power to turn big tires..(bigger than stock) and use them to, as you say.."float"
on that sand.. On the golf course, the sandtrap machines use a flotation tire WITH hydraulic motors on each wheel, so the hydraulics turn those big tires. The problem with sugar sand, (it's all over my beach) is it is like quicksand..so you don't really want to dig down in it, if you can't gun it and spin your way out. I drive my tractor over it carefully..and it has 22" with hydraulic drive and kohler 27 hp. Now, I will tell you the trick that all the grove owners, and the unlucky's like me, that have worked in the groves in high school have learned.. We used to bag our tires, and if I am about to take my truck(s) to some of the hunting grounds I go to that have lots of sugar sand, I bag my tires. If your cart starts to sink..bag the tires a bit to get out. If I was going to run a stock motor cart on sugar sand, I would plan on getting the fattest profile tire I could for my rims.. and sand tread won't hurt. |

Have a set of 20-10-10 alltrail 2 on Factory ezgo mild rise lift, and they work great. It is both sandy and hilly where I live. Hope this tidbit will help you out!
