its gonna be tricky to up grade that old cart ( good luck)
but if you find a motor that works for you i could use the old one.
(that is if its a 244cc robins)

you could rebuild the top end.(thats all the parts you'll find pre 80's)
MB523 has a thread on his top end rebuild (1977 ezgo 2 stroke).

Its hard to tell from the pics, if you have leaf springs you could build spacers to raise it a couple of inches, if the springs are on the bottom of the axles you could change them to the top with some new saddles.

Hello guys, and welcome to kbzmotorsports!

I have a 1977 EZGO as DEWDIGGLER has mentioned. My drive clutch was rattly as well. The only fix for it is to replace it. There is a bushing that wears out and allows the whole movable sheave to wobble. It will just keep wearing down. I was able to find a used one, but they are difficult to come around.

As for lifting it, I have only seen one that was lifted. The guy cut out the framing holding the box in the center on and re-welded in extensions and supports to set the cart higher. Lot of work. Here is a nice picture of what these front ends look like for those who want to see it:

The top end rebuild I did on mine was very very easy and worth it. The power increase was impressive (as impressive as a 244CC 2-stroke can be!) and it is very powerful. I easily tow my 4X8 foot trailer loaded with wood plus 3 people. I regularly trail ride with it on steep hills with ditches and gullies with no problems. I have info that can help make the rebuild easier. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Mitch
