if anyone has a clutch for this old battle axe. please reply
(the one in it rattles) p.s. when spring rolls around the old bat will get an over haul. motor, paint, seats, etc. etc. but parts for 70's carts are hard to find. (also live in iowa were 30 is like a heat wave) thanks, dew |

Re: How To Lift A 76 Ezgo?
its gonna be tricky to up grade that old cart ( good luck)
but if you find a motor that works for you i could use the old one. (that is if its a 244cc robins) |

Its hard to tell from the pics, if you have leaf springs you could build spacers to raise it a couple of inches, if the springs are on the bottom of the axles you could change them to the top with some new saddles.

Re: How To Lift A 76 Ezgo?
Hello guys, and welcome to kbzmotorsports!
I have a 1977 EZGO as DEWDIGGLER has mentioned. My drive clutch was rattly as well. The only fix for it is to replace it. There is a bushing that wears out and allows the whole movable sheave to wobble. It will just keep wearing down. I was able to find a used one, but they are difficult to come around. As for lifting it, I have only seen one that was lifted. The guy cut out the framing holding the box in the center on and re-welded in extensions and supports to set the cart higher. Lot of work. Here is a nice picture of what these front ends look like for those who want to see it: The top end rebuild I did on mine was very very easy and worth it. The power increase was impressive (as impressive as a 244CC 2-stroke can be!) and it is very powerful. I easily tow my 4X8 foot trailer loaded with wood plus 3 people. I regularly trail ride with it on steep hills with ditches and gullies with no problems. I have info that can help make the rebuild easier. Feel free to PM me with any questions. Mitch |
