HELP--Frayed belt on my 97 G16 !!!!!
Ok, I am trying not to get to upset here, but after I put the Jakes 6" lift kit and tires (23-11-12) on, I went to plowmans and bought and installed the clutch kit. I ran it about 10 min and checked it out, when I looked, the new heavy duty belt was frayed!!
It ran fine, had a noticeable low end grunt and it runs great! I did spin the tires a bit going up a steep incline a few times but I thought you should be able to pull a sh*t load with the clutch kit???? Any advice? BTW Here's the pic with the new lights......... Last edited by bigfoot216; 04-12-2010 at 06:55 PM.. Reason: Add pic |

Re: HELP--Frayed belt on my 97 G16 !!!!!
Thanks,
I took everything off and had Don look at it. He said he thought I had over greased it and it burnt the belt up. He said everything else looked good so I got a new belt and some break cleaner and I'm going right now to clean everything and put it back together. |

Re: HELP--Frayed belt on my 97 G16 !!!!!
ok here are some pics.......
as you can see some of the belt is not frayed at all. BTW this is only flat ground, no hills, and only about 5 min. of riding. Could it be this is normal? The first belt, I took to Don at Plowman's and he said it was toast, he thought I had over greased the clutch, this time there was 2 squirts, just like he said..... This actually looks better. I took one run and it looked pretty bad. Then I ran the cart again and ( short trip on flat ground ) and now it looks better. I'm confused!! What will happen if I try to pull a load??? AAAAHHHHHHHH |
