New member and first build.
First off I wanted to say great forum and that I have already used your info and ordered from your recommended sellers.
I will be starting with a 1995 CC DS Electric 48 volt. This is a totally stock cart. I will start posting pics soon. 1. First purchase: 6 Trojan T-875 batteries. 2. Ordered from Jakes : Long travel with 2inch rear wheel spacers and heavy duty leaf springs. 3. Ordered also from Jakes All Trail 23x10.5x12 tires mounted on ITP SS S112 12inch wheels. 4. Ordered from Jakes front Disk Brake kit. 5. Will order tomorrow from PlumQuik Assasin motor, 700amp controller,4ga wire set, solenoid and F/R switch. Well this is my start. I will begin pulling body parts off and cleaning up and getting it ready for new stuff. Please let me know what you think of my choices. This is all new to me as far as golf carts. By the way this cart will be used for running around in a large retirement community not really off road. I am tired of being passed all the time. My off rd vehicle is a 04 Jeep Rubicon Thanks for help so far. Phil |

Re: New member and first build.
I will check forum before asking questions.
To start my project I do have a question: I have new batteries in cart and everything is working fine. When I disconnect batteries to do this project how long can I leave batteries un plugged from charger. In other words is there any long term loss to battery to have them disconnected for a few weeks? Hope this makes sense. Thanks Phil |

Looks like a great build and please post build picsWelcome to the addiction!!! Shouldn't hurt them if you fully charge them before you disconnect them. If it drags on longer than expected you could always charge 2 batteries at a time to keep them up.

Re: New member and first build.
I am no CC expert, but it sounds like you have a really fun project ahead of you. I had a fun time with my sons building mine. One thing I see you have done right is going with Jakes. I bought the 6 inch lift for my yamaha and I gotta say they make quality "built in the USA" products.
Welcome and good luck. |

Re: New member and first build.
Thanks for the welcome. I have about a week for most of the ordered parts to arrive. I can use this time to start tearing it down. It should be a fun time. I will try to keep up with the pics. I am sure I will have some questions but it will be a fun process. I hope it will turn out as well as the carts on this forum.

Re: New member and first build.
Just a quick update. I was able to take the body parts off today and also pull the motor. Lucky for me the engine came out rather quick and easy with just my hands. It was snug but it finally came out. Thanks for a nice tip I read on this forum the other day. I can not remember who wrote it but the tip was to only just loosen the front nose screws around dash. I will add couple pics from today.
