Default Should I convert to 8 6volt or put A\C motor in

I have a 06 Club Car. Upgraded to GE motor and altrax controller. 23" tires, 6" jakes lift kit and positive track rear end. My cart has 4 12v batteries. I want more run time. I can make one pass around my property and I am limping back to camp. I use this cart for hunting and want more run time. What will give me the best performance, AC system or changing to 8 six volt batteries? Any personal experience with the ac in a hunting application?

Right now my cart will pull the front tires off the ground so it has plenty of power, i want the best of both worlds and get more run time. Will adding 8 six volt batteries give me any more run time or will the ac system be the only way to go?

How much is the cost of an a/c conversion compared to the swap to 8 six volts? CC offers a kit to swap in the 6v's is what i have heard. The a/c systems are pretty complicated to swap in cause you just about have to completely rewire and install all new electronics. Don't think swapping in eight six volts is going to be as complicated IMO. good luck

flm270, You want the best of both worlds, but you didn't say what your price range is...remember: If you want to play, you got to pay!
6 8v batteries might be a middle of the road approach, but if doing wheelies while out for a full day of hunting, you might want to bring a generator along to help recharge the cart. Sounds like you are probably needing more than electric can provide...I don't want to tell you this, but Gas carts do a little better off road (a lot!) and electric carts seem to need less repairs.

Just my 2 cents, read my sig and you'll know

The AC system is with in my budget, but if I can get just as good results with out spending that much money I am for it. I was just wondering if anyone has any realworld comparison between the two (eight 6volt batteries or AC system). I fully understand the limitations of EV's but I want to get every mile out of it I can. Where I hunt has some hills and occasional mud and if I can make one round trip around my place now with four 12v batteries, can I make two trips with eight 6volt or the AC system?

Want to clarify the a/c system is not air conditioning... It is the a/c electrical motor system.

i can't give you anything on a AC system, don't know anyone that has one, but i do know that more lead definitely equals more runtime.

Ha, well it is getting hot too. Maybe i just need to go faster.

I am having a hard time finding anything out on the a/c motor set up.

I think the a/c systems run about $1800. They look nice, wish I would have known about this 2 years ago when I upgraded my TXT to a 48v series cart. For the money, go buy yourself some new 6 or 8 volt batteries since you've already upgraded motor and controller. My 2 cents. Or how about this, send me the money to a/c my cart and I'll let you know what the difference would be!

I might put in the six 8volt batteries first then put in the a/c system a little later. I have had good success selling my used parts on craigslist. I can sell the 12volt batteries for a fair price to help cover the cost of the new batteries.
