I was wondering what people use to remove and re-install tires on wheels. Is it similar to changing the tire on a dirt bike or quad? I have done that more times than I care to mention I am really wondering if it can be done with my set of motorcycle tire irons. Both novice and proffesional opinions are welcome

The sidewalls are tough and short on some of the old tires... The breads can be tough to break and much thicker than you see on bikes..... HF does sell a manual changer that will work.

What about getting the bead over the wheel? is it possible with lubricant/tire irons? Do you have to use a special tool or machine?

If you have done quad tires before, these are much the same. It is a little difficult breaking the bead as ScottyB said but you can use tire irons to peel the tires off from the front of the rim. If you have aluminum rims, extreme caution is needed to keep from tearing up the finish.

I use black magic tire wet to lube the beads The first bead goes on by hand .... the second bead is another story. 2 spoons are needed at times and I dunno if I would want to try it without having the rim locked down on a stand and a center pin to pry on? They are a little tougher than they look

I agree, them's tough little bastids. I use a piece of angle iron with 2 bolts in it to hold the wheel and then stick the contraption in the bench vice.

Thanks for the input guys! My moto rims are aluminum so i am used to that.
