Spindle Lift vs Drop Axle Lift
I am in need of some information. I am looking at options regarding lift kits for my 2002 electric Ezgo. What is the major difference between a spindle lift and a drop axle lift? I know the drop axle lift basically replaces the front axle and the spindle lift utilizes the stock axle however which lift is better and why?
For example, I have a price of $205.28 for a 6" spindle lift and $229.85 for a 4" drop axle lift with spindles. Which one is the better lift and will last longer? My intention for the cart is street/gravel driving (no off roading). Thanks, fireman4awhile |

Re: Spindle Lift vs Drop Axle Lift
They both lift the cart by raising the front axle... the drop axle may be a little stronger set up but the spindle lifts from Jakes have proven very strong too. I think it is a matter of personal preference. The Jakes will accept Jake's disc brake hubs later if you choose to go that way?
So, Drop axle for more strength & spindle lift for a simpler install. They will perform similar for your needs. |

Re: Spindle Lift vs Drop Axle Lift
the drop axle lift is a very simple lift to install, also. you have to pull the spindles either way. with the drop axle, you just also have to install tie rod extenders (very simple to do), and unbolt the leaf springs from the old axle, and then bolt them back on to the new axle. also, you'll have to unmount the shocks from the old axle onto the new axle.
there is a little more work involved with a drop axle, but it's not difficult, and is well worth the added time and effort (and little bit of cash) it's a very simple procedure. flipping the axle in the rear? that's a bit more work |

Re: Spindle Lift vs Drop Axle Lift
I hate to dig but I drove a lifted Club Car yesterday and now I have to get my 07 EZGO PDS lifted. I can't decide between the spindle lift or the drop axle lift. I want the most lift possible and the spindle is advertised as a 6 inch lift vs the drop axle that is advertised as a 5 inch lift but I've also seen it listed as a 6 inch lift. I do want the wider track width too. I know the spindles widen the track but I haven't read anything saying the drop axle widens the track width. I want to run no smaller than a 23 inch tire, preferably 24 or a 25 inch. Suggestions?

Re: Spindle Lift vs Drop Axle Lift
Spindle lift will widen the front end and the drop axle will not. To widen the rear you will need spacer with either lift set-up.
