Default Help! rear shocks rattling with Jakes lift.

This is my '92 jacobsen 810 express (same as a marathon) I just installed a jakes drop axle lift and my rear shocks are rattling around in the jakes extensions. Anyone else experience this? and what did you do to stop it ? My thought is just to replace the shocks with longer automotive shocks but i'm open to suggestions. I love the lift kit and tires but the rattling is annoying. Thanks for looking. Rich

Welcome to BGW Rich!

Can you post some pics of the shocks/extensions? It maybe something simple.

Thanks! Not sure if it would help or not but will the extensions fit on the top of the shocks? I hope someone else will jump in here as I'm not really an ez-go guy.

That extension should be rock solid. Can you move the shock by hand and identify where the looseness is?

That's what I would think too..... or you could shim the sides to make it tighter.

The top of that shock is a stud or tower mount ...

No the extension won't fit on top. I was thinking of just using washers and shimming it but was wondering if other people had experienced this. I also realized tonight that the play in the shocks allows the whole bed/body to shift side to side and the bolt head coming out of the extension hits the inner sidewall of the tire. The bushings at the front of the swingarm are tight too and this didn't happen before the lift. any suggestions on selecting replacement shocks would be appreiciated cause i'm leaning more towards that now. Thanks and sorry for the long story Rich

btw the shocks are the same on the top and bottom, no studs like the newer ezgos so i think light truck/jeep shocks might work if I can find a suitable length

Just an update...rear shocks replaced by monroe parts #5877. Used the monroe pdf file here: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/lifte...-pdf-file.html required slight modification to upper mount but a huge improvement. thanks guys
