Re: G14 diff weld up
If you run primarily in sand, gravel, or mud then the turning radius will suffer less than on pavement, but it will still have some effect on turning. What do you plan on doing with the cart?

Re: G14 diff weld up
its my huntin buggy. 6" lift 22 tires custom front rack i made flip flop seat front and rear hitch. 16 hp duromax just waiting for cash for clutch to put in. i will be putting 2" spacers on rear and widening the front by 5", fender flares coming and home made nerf bars and roll cage. i hope to have this 100% completed in 6 months. 3 kids their sports, keeping the wife happy and trying to get in my fix of bass fishin and deer huntin just doesnt leave much time to work on the cart. i also told the wife when i started this i would only spend the money that would not affect our finances. so i have sold my atv a old pistol and couple of other things to keep this going. i will put up pics as soon as i remember to.

Re: G14 diff weld up
Sounds lke you have got a good plan there, if you don't hunt on twisty tight trails you should be ok welding up the spiders.

Re: G14 diff weld up
i do alot of driving thru the actual woods cause where i hunt we will drive right up to the animal and get it. we dont have to drag out to a trail. so i do alot of manuvering around trees and laydowns. maybe this isnt for me then. it does need to turn and be pretty agile.
thank you for info |

Re: G14 diff weld up
KennethC, I recently welded the spiders on my club car. I've seen quite a few posts where guys are against it. I have to admit that I was concerned since I lengthened the wheelbase by 8 inches on the back as well. However, I did put a little softer springs on the front. It turns great. At least for my purposes. Hills, rocks, trees, and creeks. You won't be disappointed. I had some places that were pretty tight turns and you could feel the rear slip when getting a little off balance. After welding up the gears, I went to those places first to check them out. The tires grab very well where I had issues before. I'm sure you have some similar places you frequent. If you feel that the steering isn't as responsive as you would like, take the back end of the cart up just a little more so that the front sits lower. (Or lower the front a bit) That will place a little more weight on the front tires to give you some positive steering.

Re: G14 diff weld up
Now that I think of it, most quads are solid rear axle (or at least the ones i've ridden).

Re: G14 diff weld up
Thanks guys. Im a little nervous about welding up the diff. One if i make a mistake it is a expensive one. But yes i never thought of that either about the quads. They are solid rear axles. So it should be about the same. Does anybody have pics on how to weld up diff.

Re: G14 diff weld up
I welded up the rear in my CC. all you need to do is open the trans axle and take the carrier out and weld the 2 spiders to the carrier. my cat turns fine offroad and make it climb like crazy and plow through mud like thats its job. i have no complaints... and before i welded it all up it didnt go through stuff it does now... i recommend it for an offroad cart for sure. the only thing is if you have aggressive tires like i do you will tear up your lawn doing tight turns.
i didnt take a pic when i had it split and after i welded it but the spiders are right inside the assembly on the left of this pic. its really easy to do. i know there are pics on the forum here somewhere that i used to reference how they did it. heres my cart photo album link if you want to see my tires and all. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/membe...education.html |
